Wed May 27 2009 - Sorry about the sudden elimination of my old account
and the unintended side effects it caused on some valuable old postings
I am pleased to be back from a long and enjoyable break.
I am relaxed, refreshed and ready to continue (with all your help)
to grow IMDb even further with more data and more features
aimed at keeping you all happy and reaching a bigger audience.
I have the staff flag set as you can see from the top of the profile,
but I don't need boards admin powers.
It's safer if admin features are restricted to staff members who actually administer the boards
(ie: deal with abuse reports, delete/move posts, manage quotas etc).
Since I don't do any of those things anyway it's a little experiment to keep things simple.

My personal aim for IMDb is to help share my interest and passion for movies with the world
and as a result help people discover more great movies to watch
or to get more from ones they have already seen
IMDb consists of more than 100 but less than 200 people (sorry, not allowed to be any more precise)
who all ultimately report to me.
If you want credentials then I have 20+ years experience managing the team behind IMDb,
first as volunteers, and since 1996, as paid employees;
I am fortunate to hold a vice president title at Amazon.
I no longer consider myself a programmer as I haven't written a line of code for IMDb in over 10 years... |

In 2011 IMDb was sued by an unknown actress for more than US$1 million due to IMDb revealing her age (40).
The actress claims that revealing her age could cause her to lose acting opportunities.
A federal judge in Seattle dismissed the lawsuit,
saying the actress had no grounds to proceed with an anonymous complaint.
She re-filled and so revealed that the complainant is a Huong Hoang of Texas,
who uses the stage name Junie Hoang.
