Re: Obnoxious pop-up ads
All our ads are supposed to be frequency-capped
(meaning: users should not see multiple instances of
the same ad during the same session or period of time).
Once an ad has been served, we send a cookie to your browser
which tells us that you've been served that ad so you don't keep getting it again.
If you get multiple popups,
it's either because there's a problem setting a cookie on your browser
(which may be caused by anti-spyware software or too-strict browser security settings)
or because the ad is not functioning correctly.
If you contact us directly and provide more details about the ads
you are having problems with, we'll be happy to look into it.

since the first web browser wasn't really available until 1991.
On this day in 1990 I published a series of scripts which made lists of credits
(collected by a wonderful USENET group called "rec.arts.movies") searchable.
Though the naming was still four years off, the IMDb was, in essence, born. . .
